A Short History of
Holy Spring

In 1994, through the encouragement of KveldulfR Gundarsson, a group of friends came together to form a group by the name of Draupnir.  At that time, the group had about nine active adults and a few other friends who met on a regular basis to worship the Gods and build a community.  Children first entered the group dynamic in 1996.  Shortly after these births however the group started to slowly fall apart as people moved and others just lost touch.

In late October 2001, old members of Draupnir felt a call to bring the kindred and community back together in hopes of creating the new out of the old.  Though back together for only a short time now,  much of the same spiritual strength and fun has returned.  Now the fun is bolstered by the presence of nine children.

The name Draupnir had been taken by an Asatru Alliance kindred, so the new name of Holy Spring was taken for the the group.  The name itself originates in a Frisian legend in which it is believed the god Fosite (ON= Forseti), guided twelve Frisian leaders, set adrift in a boat, to an island and brought forth a spring from the ground from which they drank and learned their laws.  So as they did then, we drink from the well in silence, to learn the ways of the Gods, in the pursuit of good life and wisdom.
